For athletes currently enrolled in a recreational program
Two-Day Tryout:
Saturday, March 21 | 3:00–6:00 PM
Sunday, March 22 | 12:00–4:00 PM
Cost: $75
This two-day evaluation allows our coaching staff to assess both physical readiness and skill development.
Day 1: Physical abilities testing
Strength
Flexibility
Ability to follow directions and rotate through stations
Day 2: Skill evaluation
Gymnastics fundamentals
Event-specific skill testing
This format gives each athlete the opportunity to demonstrate both athletic potential and technical ability.
For athletes new to DeVeau’s and currently competing in:
DP Levels 2–6 or Xcel Bronze–Platinum

This tryout will be structured like a team practice. Athletes will participate in:

Athletes can compete on one of two teams: the Development Program (Pre-Team to Level 10) for higher training hours and advanced progression, or the Xcel program for a more flexible schedule with the same great coaching and competition experience.
(Pre-Team to Level 10)
For gymnasts ready to train at a higher intensity and progress through USAG Levels 2–10. Athletes practice more hours and compete at local, state, regional, and national levels.
(Bronze to Sapphire)
A flexible team option with fewer training hours and strong competition. Xcel athletes compete in levels Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Sapphire.
When you join the team, you’re stepping into a well-established program built to support athletes and families from day one through competition season.
Each gymnast is placed where they’ll feel confident, safe, and challenged. Coaches evaluate every athlete’s skills and readiness to ensure they’re set up for success—whether that’s the Development Program or Xcel.
We hold a required parent meeting each spring—this year’s is on May 20 at 5:15 PM—to walk through expectations, schedules, and next steps. You’ll always know what’s coming and how to prepare.

Our team includes gymnasts from around age 5 through high school. We offer two tracks— the Development Program and the Xcel program—so there’s a place for athletes of all experience levels.
At DeVeau’s we offer two competitive gymnastics tracks, both sanctioned by USA Gymnastics and competing in traditional meets. The Developmental Track is a traditional path that builds strong foundational skills through structured levels, with an emphasis on technical growth and progression. The Xcel Track is a more flexible option with fewer training hours, making it ideal for gymnasts who want to enjoy competitive gymnastics while having time to pursue other activities and interests. Both tracks help athletes build confidence, teamwork, and a lifelong love for the sport.
Team placements are determined by our coaching staff with each gymnast’s safety, skill level, and confidence in mind. Our goal is to place every athlete at the level where they will be most successful, allowing them to build strong skills, enjoy their experience, and thrive throughout the season.
Yes! Even if your gymnast has never competed before, they are welcome to try out. Many athletes begin in our recreational gymnastics classes, which provide a strong foundation in skills and technique. This program is a great stepping stone for any gymnast interested in joining a team.
